In this video, I asked my parents to each read aloud my short written piece, Icarus, which imagines the last day of my sister’s life. Icarus is is a study in empathy: It explores ideas of repetition, performance as it relates to grief, and normalizing the so-called shameful feelings that are triggered by trauma.
